Unity in the community
Less than half of the applications received from asylum seekers in the UK are accepted. In a recent study 49% of asylum seekers were described as destitute, these periods of destitution ranging anywhere from six months to five years.
We, the community, are not in a position to instantly alter legislation but we can focus on people, moving away from statistics in the newspaper to names, faces, and stories that deserve to be heard. The government are failing; the money isn’t there so all we have left is us.
The result? Grassroots activism and a return to community.
