This project is an exploration in to the space between politically motivated art and socially engaged practice aiming to open up conversation within communities and engage with the public.
 
Discussing the importance of aesthetics in protest art with a focus on collaboration and the making process I explore the role of art as an active part influencing of social change. 
 
The work plays with the functionality of objects and considers the aesthetic values of art while keeping a focus on the communication of an idea.
 
I have developed a participatory residency approach to community art engagement. I take various roles within these events, artist, activist, researcher, facilitator, creating collaborative art works that present as a collective voice for marginalised communities.
