As part of ANNUALE 2013, organised by Embassy Gallery, I will be working alongside fellow artist Carolina Alcazar Rosal to run an art and activism workshop on Saturday 8th June, 11am - 4pm, at The Autonomous Centre of Edinburgh, a safe space to create, discuss and swap ideas.

What role do you think art plays in activism?
What is protest art?
Can art influence change?
Making is optional you can just pop along for conversation, to raise current issues you feel need addressed, a free hot beverage or just to have a look.

A zine will be produced after the workshop featuring any work produced, stories shared and issues raised, everyone that comes along to take part will get a free copy.

Working with Picture Window Glasgow as part of Refugee week I will be in residence for three days between 12-5pm, 20th, 21st and 22nd June 2013 at The Imaginarium, Saracen Street, Glasgow.

"Samantha Jack will present a newly developed participatory workshop at Depot Art’s Imaginarium in Possilpark, North Glasgow. With community engagement at the heart of Depot Art’s ethos, Jack blurs the boundaries between craft, community project and fine art practice. Inviting audiences to take part in an evolving protest, individuals can create a fabric patch or poster motivated by the issues of Refugee Week and fueled by collective conversation over tea and biscuits. Each patch and/or poster will be combined to form a ‘collective voice’ in the form of a protest flag or poster displayed publicly at the end of the week. To accompany the project and create a platform for conversational exchange, Jack will also produce a zine and blog."
